The document is based on an assignment undertaken as part of the ODL Certificate programme of PRIA International Academy of Life Long Learning (PIALL) on Participatory Training methodology. The document describes the experience of Mr Louise Belinfante of attending a training and highlights the aspects which facilitated and obstructed his learning. It further demonstrates how on the basis of his learning and experiences of attending this training, he designed a training intervention which was participatory in nature.

Prabhat Failbus of PRIA has shared a document on “Right to Participation in Local Democratic Governance” is formulated by LogoLink (Learning Initiative on Citizen Participation in Local Governance). LogoLink through this Global Charter not only advocates for actualising citizens’ right to participation in local democratic governance but also suggests concrete steps and mechanisms that will facilitate public institutions in realising just and equitable governance with active citizen participation.
GLOBAL CHARTER ON RIGHT TO PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE
Paltra Guarantee Limited, a Sri Lanka based organization has shared a report of Consultation workshop on “Global Charter on Right to Participation in Local Democratic Governance”was held on 3rd of September 2013 at Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute, 114, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The consultation was being jointly hosted by Federation of Sri Lankan Local Government Authorities (FSLGA), Partners in Alternative Training (PALTRA), PRIA and Logo Link – Learning Initiative on Citizen Participation in Local Governance.
Suman Bhanoo has set up a Forum on Policies for Urban Poor - Implementations and Outcomes. Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill, 2012 will surely benefit larger section of urban strata. No doubt bill has lots of positive things for street vendors which will prevent them from day to day harassment but there are some lacunae in proposed bill – as per the bill, street vendors or hawkers in any city, zone or ward would be 2.5% of the respective population. The forum aims to seek answers to some of the key questions, which would be helpful in reconsideration of proposed bill.
