Posted by PiP Administrator July 3

Suman Bhanoo has set up a Forum on Policies for Urban Poor - Implementations and Outcomes. Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill, 2012 will surely benefit larger section of urban strata. No doubt bill has lots of positive things for street vendors which will prevent them from day to day harassment but there are some lacunae in proposed bill – as per the bill, street vendors or hawkers in any city, zone or ward would be 2.5% of the respective population. The forum aims to seek answers to some of the key questions, which would be helpful  in reconsideration of proposed bill.
